We are looking to hire a Refiner to join our team at the Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis. 

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day. 

In this role, you will maintain a high sense of ethics, confidentiality, and compliance with all security measures relating to the refinery area. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist you will maintain high standards, a clean, organized, safety work environment which is free from hazards. You must perform daily system, equipment and work area inspections to identify, minimize and correct safety hazards, conduct quality checks, and ensure equipment is maintained properly. You must adhere to and follow all gold security protocols.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in mill operations and refinery operations experience would be considered an asset.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Ability to perform gold pours, which includes mixing reagents and flux for the pour.
  • Perform bullion furnace crucible rebuilds, inspections, and upkeep of the bullion furnace system.
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the electrowinning cells and clean gold sludge from the cathodes based on the production schedule.
  • Prepare gold for shipments.
  • Complete and submit documentation of lot and pour numbers, refinery reports, and metal weights
  • Operate the gravity-concentrating table.
  • The successful candidate will have a high safety standard.
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime/weekends as required during month-end or year-end.
  • Be committed to safety.

Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods.  Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.
