Pan American Silver is currently looking for a proactive professional to join us as Environmental Analyst in our Environmental team. Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the successful candidate will support the team with data collection & analysis, information review, develop, deploy, and/or maintain environmental initiatives across the company, as well as advising senior management on the Company’s performance and industry trends and best practices. Major Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze environmental information to develop corporate reporting and sustainability strategies.
  • Support mine operations compliance with corporate and international sustainability standards, including “Towards Sustainable Mining” and “Responsible Gold Mining Principles.”
  • Support the Environmental team in the implementation of initiatives.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of environmental standards and practices.
  • Analyze and assess areas of development and/or improvement for the Company’s environmental practices, reporting, projects and/or initiatives. Assist in developing strategies and action plans to address these at the corporate level and at our mine operations, as necessary.
  • Research environmental practice and reporting trends globally and within the Company’s peers in the mining industry.
  • Travel to our mine operations, as required, to assist senior management in environmental work done at the site level. Potential temporary secondment opportunities at our mine operations.
  • Participate in the corporate environmental audits at our mine operations.
  • Support the team with some administrative functions.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering, science or sustainability related program, or relevant experience.
  • 1-3 years of practical relevant experience, mining experience is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

• Collaborative, adaptability, self-motivated and keen to learn.
• Ability to liaise with different departments and work effectively in a team.
• Highly organized with the ability to work independently, with competing priorities,
and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project
• Ability to use general IT software, with basic AutoCAD, database, and GIS.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish; Portuguese is an asset.
• Knowledge of Latin American culture is an asset.

Salary Range

$55k-$70k
