This position is located in Timmins, ON, and requires relocation to the Timmins, ON area. It is not a camp location.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Mine Planner will have the responsibility of helping establish the mine plan and communicating it with stakeholders. These responsibilities can include but not limited to:

  1. Developing and maintaining 3-month plans on a monthly basis, in line with the company’s strategy and approved resources.
  2. Monitoring daily production performance to ensure plan compliance and optimal use of mine resources.
  3. Keeping daily and weekly scheduling activities up to date in order to assess mine performance.
  4. Coordinating with the engineering group to ensure mine production activities are reflected accurately in the mine plans.
  5. Maintaining good communication with Long Term Planner to ensure production plans are on track with budget and longer term forecasts.
  6. Running conceptual design reviews (“block plans”) for upcoming mining zones with all relevant stakeholders.
  7. Designing mine development and prepare driving layouts in accordance with LSG standards and provincial regulations.
  8. Assisting with underground mining studies, including cost estimates, trade off studies, change to methodology or equipment.
  9. Assisting with special projects that arise within the planning and projects teams.
  10. Participating actively in training programs, personal improvement, and job improvement initiatives.
  11. Continually developing the ability, knowledge, and skills necessary to keep up with changing methods and technology.
  12. Performing other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of 3 years of mine planning experience in a hard rock underground environment
• Must have a Degree in Mining Engineering (or related field) from an accredited University or an equivalent College Diploma in Mine Engineering Technician/Technologist with commensurate experience
• Accreditation as a fully qualified Professional Engineer (or Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist) in good standing is considered an asset
• Hands-on experience in short term planning, preferably with Deswik
• Background in long-hole and conventional mining methods is essential
• Strong initiative and work ethic as well as innovative and analytical thinking
• Strong communication skills and excellent organizational and time management skills are required
• Proficiency in mine planning softwares (Deswik CAD and Deswik Sched)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint)
• Experience supervising or training other technical staff such as engineering professionals, EIT’s or technicians would be considered an asset
