Your role will consist of various duties including surveying and ventilation. General duties will include assisting the planning, ventilation, and survey personnel in their day-to-day activities. Duties will also include marking up development lines, doing development pick-ups, long-hole drill ring mark-ups, updating mine plans, issuing development drawings, and doing month-end and bonus calculations. Other duties include but are not limited to weekly and monthly ventilation surveys, assessing air losses, re-circulation and unbalancing split, inspecting auxiliary vent tubing, fan installations and notifying of repairs due, updating the master level drawings and master ventilation schematics, providing timely delivery of the vent report on a weekly basis and issuing corrective actions to return the airflow to proper working order, if required.


Job Details

Timmins West Mine – Timmins, ON

Schedule – 4×3 (10hrs) or 5×2 (8hrs)

This position is located in Timmins, ON, and requires relocation to the Timmins, ON area. It is not a camp location.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Complete and manage fragmentation studies
  • Borehole survey of production holes
  • Fill in underground survey tasks as needed
  • Champion longhole production improvements and optimization
  • Gather and analyze data, plan, organize and prioritize work, deliver timely information

Secondary responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with time studies, ventilation surveys, routine engineering projects, and long-hole drill layouts
  • Assist with development layouts
  • Underground ventilation surveys, inspections and troubleshooting to maintain compliance
  • Prepare and conduct weekly ventilation meeting
  • Issue corrective actions to return the airflow to proper working order if required
  • Updating master level drawings, master longesections and master ventilation schematics

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two year Mine Technician or Technologist college degree or related experience
  • Minimum three years underground experience performing ventilation and/or surveying
  • Knowledge of total station setting, and proficiency in Deswik, Excel, and Word are required
  • Ability to use and calibrate associated survey equipment
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with various workgroups 
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
