Large Gold/Silver Mine

Pan American completed an expansion of the Dolores mine in 2017 that featured a pulp agglomeration plant to process high-grade ore from a new underground mine, together with the high-grade portion of the ore from the open-pit mine.

Mining & Processing

Underground/Open-pit 20,000 TPD

Mining at Dolores is by standard open pit methods using shovels, loaders, and haul trucks and by underground methods using sub level open stoping and ramp haulage to the surface. The mine uses conventional cyanide heap leaching to produce gold and silver doré. The high grade portion of the mined material is processed through the pulp agglomeration treatment plant and is conveyed with the crushed lower grade portion of the mined material to the heap leach pads for leaching.

Geology & Mineralization

650.4 Au koz

Dolores is a low sulphidation epithermal deposit with strong structural control. Silver and gold mineralization is hosted in hydrothermal breccias and sheeted vein zones in the order of 5 metres to 10 metres wide. Mineralization occurs along three major structures, including the San Francisco and Alma Maria Breccias, and a sub-vertical shoot where those two breccias meet. Silver and gold mineralization identified on the surface at Dolores lies over an area 4,000 metres long and up to 1,000 metres wide.
